Picking a path for 2022

Fact

A study found that 64% of people abandon their New Year's Resolution within a month. Interestingly, this resolution is also likely to be the same one - or very similar - to the one that was abandoned the previous year. (https://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/18/6/3084)

The researchers noted that a key issue is that most people's resolutions are pretty vague - for example, "get fit", or "eat healthy" and any specifics tend to be around a goal - "lose 15 pounds" - rather than about the actions that will be required to achieve it.

With failure almost assured, many people are so disenchanted they choose to parachute into a new year, carrying unexplored hopes and dreams, and just see where the year takes them. Of course, we are all really hoping for something different this year, as we were at the beginning of 2021. And how naive we now seem, thinking back to the start of 2020, when we were so blissfully unaware of the surprises that year would fling at us.

While we are not out of the disruptive, virus-ridden woods, there are many paths we can take. Possibly you may stumble onto the one that serves you best, but chances are you could spend the year aimlessly circling a whole lot of uncertainty.

Is there another option? You choose! Pick your path for 2022 - wisely and with intent. My planning for 2022 is almost complete and I am working with my clients to complete theirs. We are excited for the year ahead.
